Similar to the import of Person records, dataset records can be imported in bulk. Likewise, unique identifying fields from legacy systems can be imported into custom dataset-scoped fields.

Upon import, Slate attempts to prevent the creation of duplicate records by finding an existing match. The matching criteria, including the order of evaluation, are described in the Data Import Matching Criteria - Dataset Records documentation.

Unique to dataset records, a unique Key should be created for each dataset record. This unique value is comparable to a person's Slate Reference ID.

Core data elements for the import of dataset records include: Name, Key, Unique for Merging Custom Field (ie: Colleague ID, Advance ID, Jenzebar ID, etc.)
