Custom Dataset Fields and Prompts

Fields

Custom dataset fields are configured similarly to a person-scoped field, but select the name of the dataset with the 'Dataset' setting.

  1. Click Database in the top navigation bar and select Fields.
  2. Follow the same instructions in the Custom Fields, but select the name of the dataset within the "Dataset" setting.

For consistency's sake, prefix the field IDs with an identifier exemplifying that the field belongs to the dataset. For example, a Volunteer dataset might have field IDs such as "volunteer_email," "volunteer_firstname," and "volunteer_lastname."

Be sure to avoid using any of the standard IDs for custom dataset fields. For example, first should not be used as the ID an Alumni First Name field. Instead, use alumni_first for the field's unique ID. Standard IDs are listed at the top of the Fields Admin Tool in the Database.

Prompts

Custom Dataset fields are configured similarly to a person-scoped field, but select the name of the dataset with the "Dataset" setting.

  1. Click Database in the top navigation bar and select Prompts.
  2. Create any prompts associated with the newly created custom prompt-based fields.
