Source Formats

To assist with the import process, Source Formats can be created. Source Formats define the fields and values that Slate imports data to, enables the setup of automated imports, and sets certain consistent behaviors (such as only updating existing records).

For example, if an institution plans on receiving consistent files from external service providers - such as HEPdata, WealthEngine, GiveCampus, RNL, etc. - a Source Format can be established to automatically consume the data - matching it to the appropriate record. Similarly, Source Formats can be created to receive data from internal sources - such as a campus or financial system.

Leveraging Source Formats allow for the testing and initial importing process to take place consistently and rapidly.
