In order for a gift to be created (whether an outright gift, pledge, or planned gift), it must contain at least the following four data points:
- Gift Type
- Gift Status
- Gift Fund
- Gift Amount
These four elements define the type of gift (cash, property, stock, etc.), set the status - which defines the overall category of the gift (i.e. Received, Pledged, or Planned), determine the gift's designation (i.e. Annual Fund), and determine the donation amount.
In addition to these required fields, standard gift fields exists. A subset of standard gift fields can be customized by an institution using special field and prompt configurations.
