Configuration Keys

Configuration keys are occasionally used to configure a global setting, for an instance. These keys should be updated with caution and only when necessary. In general, each configuration key is set once and not changed unless required by a change in an institutional need.

Configuration Key Name Value Description
Account Registration - Redirect to Form Registration
  • GUID of Form
If account registrants provide more information, create a form to capture this additional information.

After account registration, the registrant will be redirected to the form specified.

Copy the GUID (36-character unique identifier) of the form and paste it into the Value box.
Account Registration - Show Birthdate
  • 0 = Disable
  • 1 = Enable
By default, Slate asks for a person's date of birth during account registration and when creating a password using a PIN.

If this is set to "0," the birthdate will not be requested.

(Admissions Databases Only)
  • Example: /status
Redirects the standard /apply page to another page, such as /status.
Banner for Administrative Pages

To temporarily prevent scheduled communications from being sent as scheduled (such as during a campus emergency), enter 1 as the value.

To re-enable scheduled communications, enter 0 as the value. Mailings will resume as normal. Any record that meets the live query's filter criteria will receive a message during the next scheduled time for that mailing to run. If a record met the filter criteria for a live query during the time that the Emergency Stop was enabled, but it no longer meets the criteria when Emergency Stop is disabled, then a message for that record will not be sent.

Merge (First + Last + Birthdate)
  • 0 = Disable
  • 1 = Enable
Slate uses many items to match existing records when importing data through Upload Dataset or Forms, the last of which is First+Last+Birthdate.

Institutions with a high number of international applicants who have the same names may wish to disable this automatic matching of imported data. To do so, add this Configuration Key with the value 0.

Note: This will result in a very high number of duplicate records, which must be manually processed in Consolidate Records. Therefore, this setting is not recommended for most institutions.

Enable re-authentication within the Slate mobile app on iOS devices that support TouchID if the user has logged in on the device using a password within 14 days. This is enabled by default. Enter 0 as the value to disable this feature.
