Material Metadata

The material metadata setting on materials allows association of a form with a material, and this form can collect information related or not related to the material. This process is useful when processing and performing data entry on incoming documents. For more information on creating a material scoped form, see the instructions below.

Configure a Material Metadata

Create Material Scoped Fields

  1. Select Database on the top navigation bar and select Fields.
  2. Select Insert.
  3. Enter the following configuration:
    • Scope: Material

Click the Slate Scholar Lightbulb    in the top left corner for a complete listing of all setting descriptions.

Create a Material Scoped Form

  1. Select Forms on the top navigation bar.
  2. Create a form as you would any other form.
  3. Enter the following configurations in the Edit Properties dialog box:
    • Scope: Material

Important!

You can map person and application-scoped fields on a material metadata form. You can only affect application-scoped fields if the material is associated with an application.

Associate the Material Scoped Form to a Material

  1. Select Database on the top navigation bar and select Materials.
  2. Select Edit for the desired material.
  3. Enter the following configuration:
    • Material Metadata: Select the form that was previously created.

Click the Slate Scholar Lightbulb    in the top left corner for a complete listing of all setting descriptions.

Interacting with the Form

Batch Acquire

In Batch Acquire, Slate shows the material metadata form if the corresponding material is selected.

Manually

When viewing the material from the Materials tab of a Record, the material metadata can be found on the Metadata tab. Selecting Edit from this view will open the material metadata form in the Batch Acquire interface to be edited as desired.
