Inbox Live Bots

The Inbox Live Bots combines frequently asked questions with natural language processing to match answers to questions asked.

The Bot is powered by 'intents' - sample inputs and outputs configured by the Slate user. These intents are then evaluated via natural language processing to supply appropriate answers to questions posed via the Bot.

The Bot can be used via SMS Inbox. 

Create a Bot

To begin using the AI Chatbot, the Bot must first be created. To do this:

  1. Click Inbox in the top navigation bar.
  2. Navigate to Inbox Live.
  3. Click New Bot.
  4. Enter the following configurations in the popup window:
    • Status - Set this to Active.
    • Name - Name the Bot.
    • Language - Set to English.
Create Intents

To begin using the Bot, 'intents' must first be created. These intents are categorized and include a collection of both inputs and outputs. Each bot is currently restricted to a maximum of 500 intents.

For example, an intent for 'Greetings' might be created that includes what end users might type or text to the Bot (inputs), as well as what the Bot should reply (outputs).

To create a new intent:

  1. Navigate and click into the Bot via Inbox, Inbox Live.
  2. Click New Intent.
    • Name - Type in the name of the intent.
    • Input - Type in expected inputs (greetings, phrases or questions) in a line-separated format.
    • Output - Type in the desired output (responses or answers). Multiple outputs can be entered in a line-separated format.
  3. Click Save.

Create as many intents as needed. These intents are evaluated via natural language processing to supply appropriate answers to questions posed via the Bot.

Inbox Live Bot Sources

To streamline bot configuration, links to websites with existing FAQs can be added as sources within an Inbox Live Bot. The Inbox Live Bot will then evaluate these existing questions and answers using natural language processing to facilitate answers to expected questions.

To add a source:

  1. Navigate and click into the Bot via Inbox, Inbox Live.
  2. Click New Source.
    • Name - Type in the name of the source (to be seen internally).
    • URL - Type in or paste the URL of the FAQ website.
  3. Once the questions and answers have loaded, click Publish to convert the existing questions into intents.
Connect a Bot to an SMS/Voice Device

If you have a number provisioned that you wish to assign to a bot, you can choose which bot in the settings of the individual SMS number in "Deliver Configuration":
