First Draft is your innovative AI companion for crafting initial drafts of emails and text messages, seamlessly integrated into Slate. This intuitive tool leverages contextual information from your database, including person and application details, to automatically generate highly personalized communications.

Ad-Hoc Mailing

To get started:

  1. Click on the email address listed on the person record dashboard to send an ad-hoc mailing.

  2. Click on the First Draft icon in the bottom righthand corner.

  3. Formulate a clear prompt or question that provides context and guidance. Refine your prompt or question as necessary.

  4. When the message meets your needs, click insert.

  5. Edit, review, and send.

In the example below, First Draft was prompted with:

"I need an email to inform prospective students about our upcoming open house event. The post should be engaging and suitable for platforms like Instagram and Twitter. Only refer to them using their first name."

Prompting First Draft

To maximize the effectiveness of First Draft, provide clear guidance to align with your objectives. Follow a systematic approach, adhering to the steps, to generate impactful interactions that resonate with recipients and achieve desired results.

 

Step 1: Define Purpose, Audience, and Format

Example: "I need an email to inform prospective students about our upcoming open house event. The post should be engaging and suitable for platforms like Instagram and Twitter."

Step 2: Identify Key Message and Structure

Example: "I want a concise message to convince current students to join our summer internship program. Please structure the message with an introduction, two key benefits, and a closing statement."

Step 3: Gather and Incorporate Relevant Information

Example: "We are launching a new degree program in computer science. Craft an email to inform enrolled students about the program details, admission requirements, and potential career opportunities."

Step 4: Craft Engaging Content

Example: "Create a persuasive blog post to encourage alumni donations for our scholarship fund. Begin with an attention-grabbing opening, present impactful stories of past scholarship recipients, and end with a compelling call to action."

Step 5: Conclude with Call to Action and Review

Example: "We invite you to experience our vibrant campus community firsthand.
